A vishing scheme is similar to Phishing, only instead of using an e-mail message, the criminal uses a recorded phone message in attempt to gain access to your personal information. The caller may claim to be a representative from your bank or other trusted institution. The message will state that your credit card or bank account information has been breached or must be verified and asks you to enter your account or card number. If you are uncomfortable continuing a phone call that was not initiated by you, ask for a reference number and call your bank, using legitimate sources of contact information. This includes information found on cobizbank.com, information on your bank statements and phone numbers listed on your ATM, debit or credit card.
